My first week in Malaysia was quite a whirlwind.  We arrived in Kuala Lumpur completely dazed by the huge city; the tall buildings, lights, nice cars, the modernness of it all was a little overwhelming.  Our first couple of days we spent trying to get used to the culture of Malaysia.  We spent some good quality time with each other, grocery shopping, movie nights and getting pizza.  Then it was time to move out.  Unfortunately our Airbnb fell through and so we spent 7 hours at a local KFC.  After being on the phone for hours we booked a hotel and headed to the KL City Center.  That night we stayed in a very fancy hotel, on the 55th floor, overlooking the beautiful city below.  The next day, after being thoroughly rested,  we went out to explore the city.  We went to the Eco Forest Park with it’s hanging bridges and beautiful garden jungle views. We also went to see the super tall Petronas Towers near the middle of the city.  On Friday we moved into China Town where we walked through the markets, tried Waffle wraps and killed cockroaches in our hostel!  My team and I decided to have a prayer burn that night.  A prayer burn is when someone is praying all throughout the night.  China Town is lovely but there are parts that make it a very dark place.  I spent part of my night crying and praying to God over the things we caught glimpses of as we walked home.  Dim, colored florescent lighting, stalls with girls sitting on small stools, and men standing guard just outside.  We knew we were here for a reason; to leave a spiritual mark in that place, to help with the fight of the spiritual battles going on all around us.  This was also a time for God to finally answer my pray of breaking my heart and seeing part of the broken world the way He sees it, to pray and petition for girls who don’t have a voice.  The world is hard but Papa wants us to see the joy in it too.  On Saturday, we slept in for a bit and then went to the mall for some fun!  Movies in Malaysia are SUPER cheap, so we went and saw Incredibles 2 for just a few dollars.  After the movie, we had an impromptu fashion show in one of the clothing stores. It was a very crazy week but it was a really great first week in Malaysia.  I can’t wait to see what else God brings our way while we are here.  Check out my videos of my week down below! Thank you everyone!

Love, Jewel
