While we were in India we decided to save up our adventure days till the end of the month to go see the Taj Mahal.  It was so very beautiful!  My team and I had a lot of fun exploring the Taj and the beautiful gardens around it.  We even saw a few monkeys playing in the fountains! Below are a few tips if you ever decide to go see the Taj Mahal for yourself!

1. Be sure to book your tickets online, this saves time waiting at the ticket lines.  Tickets to see the Taj Mahal are $15 USD.  This also includes shoe covers and a water bottle!

2. There are also very long lines to get into the Taj Mahal.  Supposedly they try to limit the number of people on the grounds but I honestly don’t see how they keep track of that. However; if you are a foreigner, there is a special line just for you where you breeze through the line in about 2 minutes.

3. Try to bring a small personal bag/item/purse. They will go through it and the bigger your item is, the longer you will be in the security line.

4. Don’t visit in the middle of summer. We visited right in the middle of summer which is mid May here. It can get very hot during the day, it was around 110 degrees while we were there.

5. Because it is so hot, be sure to stay hydrated.  There are a couple of clean water stations around the grounds where you can fill up on drinking water.

6. You must wear shoe coverings(they look like shower caps for your feet) in order to go inside the Taj itself.

7. Don’t be surprised if people ask to take pictures/selfies with you.  Foreigners are viewed kinda like celebrities. If you say yes to one or two photos, a line of people may start to form to take pictures with you.  It’s perfectly okay to say no, but if you don’t mind, go for it! 🙂

8. Try to visit in the morning, it is much cooler in the earlier hours and there are less people.  The earlier, the better.

9. You will be asked not to take pictures inside the Taj Mahal itself. I don’t mean to spoil the surprise buuut the Taj Mahal is actually a tomb and all that’s inside is two marble caskets and a few hall ways.  So there really isn’t any need to take pictures inside. It is much prettier on the outside.

10. With all that being said, have fun, stay hydrated, take some nice pictures, and make some memories! For more information on the Taj Mahal visit: https://www.tajmahal.gov.in   You can buy Taj Mahal tickets here: https://asi.payumoney.com/#/
